Year's first tuna auction at Tsukiji Market

TOKYO, Japan - This tuna, weighing 215 kilograms, fetches 2,795,000 yen in the year's first auction held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market at Tsukiji on Jan. 5. Brokers said the price this year is about half the average in the past due to bigger hauls in coastal waters and increased imports primarily from Spain.
